VR Aeronautical Mob
VRAM is a squadron for the space simulator Elite Dangerous.
During the development of EDPA, I was looking around for a squadron or clan that was primarily VR-focused in order to get feedback. I found none. Hence, I decided to start my own. The tenets of the squadron are as follows:
VR
We play in VR most of the time, and our organisational structure is based on this.
-
The central point of communication is our Discord Server. Since typing is tedious in VR, the voice channels are the central focus. When in game, everybody should ideally be in a voice channel.
-
There is nothing wrong with playing in Open, but it is largely expected that most will play in Solo or Private Group. This is because:
-
90% of players do not interact with you. They just create lag, hog landing pads and clog up the mail slot.
-
9% of players will talk to or hail you, triggering a blind groping for the keyboard… in addition to the above.
-
1% of players will try to kill you or take your stuff, sometimes right after saying something and while you are groping for your keyboard.
-
-
We should eventually build up a fair knowledge base on playing in VR – everything from headsets to HOTAS to helper apps. To submit a guide for this page, please send it in Kramdown format over Discord.
Aeronautical
We like to fly, be it atmospheric or in the depths of space. If Odyssey fully supported VR, we might have liked walking around too.
Mob
We are a mob. Groupthink is central. Common sense… not so much.
-
When something catches your fancy, go ahead and do it. There are no rules or morals here to hold you back. Bonus points for convincing other people to join you.
-
When somebody proposes a (possibly bad) idea, everybody is encouraged to hop on board. That said, nobody is obligated to do anything.
-
Everybody can and is encouraged to recruit into the in-game squadron. There is no approval criteria.
-
Nobody cares if you are a part of another squadron. The Discord is open to all. Come and go as you please.
-
There are no roles or moderation on the Discord server. Bans, if any, should be rare and only reserved for the most disruptive.
Does this sound like your cup of tea? If so, embrace the chaos and join us today!
